Office relocation IT services in Sydney

Last reviewed 24 September 2026.

Static Computers provides office relocation IT services for Sydney businesses. We plan and run the IT side of your office relocation: network design for the new office space, cabling, internet and phone connections, moving and reconnecting computers and network equipment, and testing everything before your team arrives. We work closely with your office removalists and fit-out team so the entire office is working on Monday morning, with minimal disruption to business operations. Start planning 8 to 12 weeks before the office move, mainly because new internet connections take time.

Why IT needs its own place in your office relocation

Moving offices is usually about business growth: more space, a better location, or creating spaces that support your company culture and an inspiring work environment. Professional office movers and office removals companies handle office furniture, boxes and the physical space. Most don't design networks, order internet services or reconnect servers. In most office relocations, IT is what causes operational downtime: an internet connection that isn't live, a server that won't come back up, or a floor plan with no data points where the desks went. Few businesses can afford downtime, so treating IT relocation services as a separate relocation project from the very beginning is the difference between a stress-free move and lost trading days.

The office move, step by step

  1. 12 weeks out: initial planning and site visit

We review the floor plan and space planning with your fit-out team: desk layout, comms room, power and Wi-Fi coverage in the new space. We list what's moving and what's being replaced.

  2. 10 weeks out: order internet and phones

New business connections can take weeks. We order and manage these essential services for the new location, and schedule cancellation at the old office.

  3. 6–8 weeks out: network design and cabling

Data points, Wi-Fi, comms cabinet, security cameras and access control.

  4. 2–4 weeks out: new IT infrastructure

Switches, access points, firewall, meeting room screens, set up and tested in advance.

  5. Move weekend

We coordinate with the moving company. Computers and office equipment are labelled, disconnected, moved, reconnected and tested desk by desk.

  6. Monday morning: final setup and post-move support

An engineer is on site to fix anything missed.

  7. After the move

Old equipment goes through asset recycling with data protection, and IT is cleared from the old office.

From simple office moves to complex office relocations

A simple office move of a 10-person team across the street needs a few weeks of planning. Complex office relocations, such as multiple floors, corporate offices with server rooms, or commercial relocations running across two sites, need a longer planning process and a staged cut-over. Our experienced team plans each move around your business, with cost-effective options such as reusing existing network equipment where it's still fit for purpose.

Keeping business continuity during the move

  • Cloud services such as Microsoft 365 keep staff working from home if the move runs over.
  • Servers are backed up before they're moved.
  • New connections are tested days before the move, not on the weekend.
  • Phones divert to mobiles during the changeover so no calls are missed.

Questions we get asked

How far ahead should we plan IT for an office relocation?

Start 8 to 12 weeks before the move. New business internet connections are usually the longest lead item, followed by cabling and any new IT infrastructure.

Do you handle cabling, internet and phones for the new office?

Yes. Static Computers orders and manages internet and phone services, and looks after voice and data, so you have one point of contact for the entire office relocation.

Can an office move happen without downtime?

In most cases, yes. Equipment is moved over a weekend and tested before Monday morning, and new connections and hardware are installed and tested in advance, so staff can work on day one in the new office space.

Do you move office furniture?

No. Static Computers handles the IT side of the office relocation and works closely with your office removalists, who move the office furniture and boxes.
