The starting point

DHDS Drilling is a Melbourne-based drilling and manufacturing business. The team’s day is built around the work, not around their technology. The business needs IT that simply runs: users get their email, reach the tools they need, and finish the day without IT getting in the way.

Before Static Computers came on board, the IT was being handled by a previous provider. Things ran, but the team didn’t have the confidence that everything was being looked after to the standard a manufacturer needs, or that the environment was being moved forward over time rather than just held together.

How the engagement runs

The engagement runs under a clearly scoped Managed Services Agreement. With scope, expectations and responsibilities agreed up front, the day-to-day work has settled into a steady rhythm with no surprises for either side.

Under that agreement, Static looks after day-to-day support, Microsoft 365 administration, account onboarding and offboarding, and the routine maintenance work that keeps a business environment healthy. New starters are onboarded with the right access from day one. Leavers are properly disabled. Mailbox, licence and identity housekeeping is owned end-to-end.

Alongside the day-to-day, the engagement runs a steady programme of modernisation. Pieces of the environment are reviewed, upgraded and replaced over time, communicated in plain language, scheduled around production, and closed out cleanly. Cyber security is part of the same conversation: tightening the posture in sensible steps rather than a single all-at-once project, so the business is always a little further forward than it was last quarter.

Why this works for a drilling and manufacturing business

A manufacturer doesn’t need a glossy IT transformation. It needs the basics handled properly, the next sensible improvement planned out, and the right person on the phone when something needs attention. The DHDS engagement is built around that reality.

The relationship has matured to the point that bigger conversations, security uplift, future compliance pathways, ERP modernisation, are now part of the regular review cadence. The order is the right one: run the day-to-day well, then plan the next step on solid foundations.

We have engaged Steven at Static Computers over the last 12 months. In that time Steven has proven to be very knowledgeable, reliable, quick to respond and easy to communicate with. He has helped and continues to help us uplift our IT systems, processes and cyber security. I have no reservation in recommending Static Computers to anyone who is seeking IT support.
